Covid-19 Response

We are planning to run Breakaway summer camps in 2020, with many modifications. Like the rest of the world, we are learning more about COVID-19 every day. We are communicating regularly with the public health department and state/local officials to have the most current policy updates and CDC recommended guidelines. The safety and well-being of our campers and staff form the basis of every decision we make.

We have set May 7 as a date by which we will announce updated decisions about our 2020 schedule, including potential modified dates and a revised operating and health plan. (We may push this date back in order to have the most current information and to make the wisest and safest decisions possible.)

Some our modifications will include smaller groups at camp with CDC recommended spacing measures, added screening criteria based on the latest information and best practices afforded at the moment, and routine wellness checks. If commercially available, we will also provide COVID-19 testing and face masks to all campers.

As our hearts go out to the victims of the virus, and as we share appreciation and gratitude for the healthcare workers and people who work daily to help society function, we do want to recognize the toll the virus has taken on our children as they have missed out on so much this spring. Never have we felt that summer camp is as important for kids as it will be this summer. Kids need a break from technology, an opportunity to run and play outside, a chance to be face-to-face with friends, and time to relax, escape daily worries, and simply have fun. We have never been more excited about camp, and we will do all in our power to provide the safest experience kids so desperately need.

If you do intend for your child to attend camp, register quickly as there will be fewer spots available this year.
